Your questionnaires should be unique to you and your law firm. They should be based not only on the information you need for the legal service you are being hired for, but should be designed to give you the information you need to have a successful first client appointment.

This also will include determining what type of questionnaire you need. For example, do you want to have a questionnaire for:

  • A single person
  • A married couple or partners

Or, by contrast, do you want just one questionnaire that suggests to a potential client that he or she “leave blank” areas that do not apply to them. Furthermore, do you need a more inclusive retainer than address more than one practice area. If this is what you want in your law firm, what can you include? Or exclude? Also, how will you explain multiple practice areas to your client?
