1: Social Media and Your Law Firm – The Policies You Need Now

Are you using social media as a part of your law firm’s strategic marketing plan? Do you let your employees interact with your law firm social media or post to their own profiles while they are in the office? What does your policy manual say regarding social media? Is it something you can or should supervise?

Join our special guest presenter, Mark L. Bonfanti, Esquire, partner at Allen, Norton & Blue, as he discusses this crucial topic for you and your practice. Mark and his law firm are devoted exclusively to the practice of Labor and Employment Law, representing management interests nationwide in both the public and private sectors for the past four decades.

2: Meet Our Expert

3: What will I learn in this Expert Training Session?

Many of the attorneys we work with are just not sure what to do with social media and their law practice team. Just a few of the questions we field are:

  • Should employees be encouraged to interact with the law firm social media?
  • Can employees be stopped from using social media at work?
  • What if your employee complains about the firm? Or a client? How should you handle it?
  • Can employees post questionable photos while at work?
  • Should employees be allowed to say they work for you at all?
  • If you’re interviewing a potential employee, should you look at social media? Can you make a decision not to hire based on what you find?
  • If an employee runs all your social media accounts and quits, who owns really owns these accounts?

If any of these questions, or more, have crossed your mind, this is the presentation for you. We’ve all heard the motto…”the best defense is a good offense”…and never is that more true than when it comes to creating policies to protect your firm. Don’t leave your firm unprotected when it comes to social media!

1: Winning with Different (aka Difficult) Employees

Did you know most problems in the workplace are not that people can’t do their jobs? It’s that people can’t get along with other people. This interactive training session begins with a focus on the core competencies for managing workplace conflict.

Attendees will learn how to recognize budding conflict and implement tactics to defuse it. Derailing conflict requires managing differences. The goal of this training is to prevent small workplace differences (by managing them strategically) from growing into costly large crises. 3: What will I learn in this Expert Training Session?

Most problems in the workplace are not that people can’t do their jobs. It’s that people can’t get along with other people.

This interactive training session begins with a focus on the core competencies for managing workplace conflict. Attendees will learn how to recognize budding conflicts and implement tactics to defuse them. Derailing conflicts requires managing differences. The goal of the training is to prevent small workplace differences (by managing them strategically) from growing into costly large crises. Providing employees with the skills and confidence to resolve conflicts early will result in fewer disputes and expensive legal claims.

This session will also focus on overlooking the quirky behavior and overcoming difficult coworkers. Difficult employees do, in fact, exist. No workplace is immune. The degree of difficulty, however, is determined by the self-confidence and professional skills of the other employees. This session will provide guidance on handling a myriad of difficult employees, such as the ones that:

  • personally attack
  • undermine the team’s professional contributions
  • talk constantly, but never listen
  • need to have the last work
  • don’t keep commitments
  • openly criticize other’s work
  • compete for power
  • crave attention

Whatever the motivation of the difficult employee, there is a common response: they must be addressed, and when possible, embraced. If left unaddressed, the situation only worsens and can often erupt into an extremely unpleasant and unnecessary workplace event. In this session, we’ll provide specific strategies for dealing with any type of difficult employees, including: maintaining objectivity, understanding what’s driving the attack, minimizing your own whining, knowing when to involve others, rehabilitating difficult employees and accepting when you can’t.

The attendees will be engaged throughout the training in finding solutions to workplace conflict and difficult employees through evolving case studies taken from real life situations.

With all the ways we have to communicate today, it may surprise you to learn the phone is still the preferred method for customers to interact with businesses. Click-to-call is booming, and its popularity isn’t expected to fade any time soon: a predicted 162 billion calls will be made to businesses from smartphones in 2019.

1: Helping Your Clients Choose the Best Health Care Proxy

One of the most important decisions your clients make is often made without much thought: whom to choose as their health care proxy. Nearly half of hospitalized adults over 65 needed their health care proxy to make a medical decision for them. With so many decisions being made by proxy, it’s essential that each client chooses a proxy who is ready and able to act with their wishes in mind — and it’s not always the obvious choice.

In this expert presentation from our colleagues at Docubank, we will explore the latest research on advance directives, including studies on how frequently they’re used, their impact on physicians, patients’ families, and their accessibility in the hospital. You’ll learn about how to help your clients pick an effective health care agent and use this data in your marketing to build relationships with your clients’ family and friends.

1: The Power of Advance Directive Registries and Your Practice

How do you make sure your clients have their information when they need it? Do you know what an advance directives registry is for your clients? What about the power of how this registry can help your grow and build your practice? Join us for this expert webinar with Tiffany Brown of DocuBank as she shares with us the power of advance directives registry for your law firm.

2: Meet Our Expert

Meet our expert, Tiffany Brown, VP Docubank. DocuBank is a value-added client service that thousands of attorneys provide for their clients each year. The company is proud to provide a client benefit that works for you and for your clients. Founded in 1994, DocuBank is committed to enhancing attorney services by providing electronic document storage and emergency access to clients’ advance directives, as well as valuable marketing benefits.

DocuBank allows you and your clients to be heard. Of all your clients’ legal documents their advance medical directives are the only ones that they may need access to quickly in an emergency. Unfortunately, according to a study in the Journal of the American Medical Association, living wills are not accessible in 74% of cases when needed in hospitals. (See Docubank – https://www.docubank.com/index.cfm?event=about.whydocubank)

This means that 74% of all people who take the time to complete their living wills and other advance medical directives are still not having their wishes heard. DocuBank helps to make sure that the documents you’ve completed will be there when they are needed most. DocuBank transmits a client’s advance medical directives to a hospital instantly, 24 hours a day/7 days a week, around the world. In addition to making sure that hospitals receive your documents within moments, DocuBank also supplies them with essential emergency information.

3: What will I learn in this Expert Training Session?

1: 9 Questions to Consider About an Estate Planning/Elder Law Drafting System

Automation is the future and the future is now. Many attorneys already use some form of automated document drafting system, and others are moving in that direction. You may be considering such a system, or you might already have a system but wonder if it’s the best fit for you. This presentation is designed to help attorneys evaluate either their current system or one they might be reviewing.

In this webinar, presented from Practice42’s Premier Practice Institute’s Expert Webinar series, estate planning attorney Teresa Bush, Director of Education and Support Services for InterActive Legal, will discuss her nine important questions to ask when considering any drafting system. They encompass not only the cost of the program – which is just one factor – but also the who, what, when, why, and how questions that will determine whether a particular system is a good match for your practice. The nine questions focus on who is behind the system, what’s included, when the system is updated, why it could be the right – or wrong – system for you, and how the system works. Some features may be more or less important to you than others, and knowing what’s possible can help determine exactly what will work best for your firm and your clients.

1: Critical Health Care Information Your Law Practice Needs During Open Enrollment

As an agent who specializes in health insurance solutions for individuals and families, Craig Rodrigue, of CSR & Associates The Benefits Group, feels it is very important to educate professionals whose clients may be experiencing divorce or a new marriage. Both of these life events can cause significant unexpected expenses if not timed carefully, particularly if a premium subsidy (i.e. from Healthcare.gov) is involved. “We see clients on a regular basis who owe thousands of dollars in tax credits back to the IRS because of a poorly timed event”, says Craig. “In one case a client who finalized a divorce one month too soon created a $19,000 new tax burden owed to the IRS. What a devastating discovery to a client who was already experiencing enormous expenses caused by a divorce.”

– Is your high school or college child an adult now?

– Did you know at this moment, you do not have the authority to make his or her decisions anymore?

– What would you do if you received that phone call tonight?

– Do you realize without the right planning in place you may have to go to court to be able to take care of your child?

– Are you really ready for a costly and stressful court battle?

1: How to Successfully Market to Nursing Homes

As an elder law attorney, how often are you meeting with clients who need Medicaid planning? We know that one of your practices goals may be to help seniors who are entering into a long-term care facility navigate the maze they are in and help them get the support they need. As you look at your practice, where do your nursing home clients Medicaid originate? Is it from the internet? Your referral network? Or directly from skilled nursing facilities and assisted living facilities? If you are not receiving a significant number of referrals of paid work from the nursing homes in your local community or want to increase your business, we encourage you not to miss a minute of this dynamic presentation from David Jacoby, Esquire.

1: Critical Training Your Intake Specialist Needs

When you think about your law practice management processes, what do you consider most important? Is it getting client work done? Marketing? Building new strategic partnerships in your professional network? As you think about this list, does answering your telephone make the list? Is it even in the top ten things you consider most important? Unfortunately, lawyers often consider the receptionist duties and responsibilities far less important than other law firm tasks. We would encourage you to take a step back to examine your practice as you think about the inherent power of this position and all you could accomplish with a trained intake specialist in your law firm. Although often overlooked, training your team who answers your phone to intake a new potential client may be one of the most effective tools you can put in your practice this year. Don’t miss your opportunity to learn from Gregory Gay, Esquire, CAP CELA, Florida Bar Board Certified in Elder Law and Wills, Trusts, and Estates, teach you important training tools you may implement in your law practice today.
