1: Winning with Different (aka Difficult) Employees

Did you know most problems in the workplace are not that people can’t do their jobs? It’s that people can’t get along with other people. This interactive training session begins with a focus on the core competencies for managing workplace conflict.

Attendees will learn how to recognize budding conflict and implement tactics to defuse it. Derailing conflict requires managing differences. The goal of this training is to prevent small workplace differences (by managing them strategically) from growing into costly large crises. Providing employees with the skills and confidence to resolve conflicts early will result in fewer disputes and expensive legal claims.

3: What will I learn in this Expert Training Session?

Most problems in the workplace are not that people can’t do their jobs. It’s that people can’t get along with other people.

This interactive training session begins with a focus on the core competencies for managing workplace conflict. Attendees will learn how to recognize budding conflicts and implement tactics to defuse them. Derailing conflicts requires managing differences. The goal of the training is to prevent small workplace differences (by managing them strategically) from growing into costly large crises. Providing employees with the skills and confidence to resolve conflicts early will result in fewer disputes and expensive legal claims.

This session will also focus on overlooking the quirky behavior and overcoming difficult coworkers. Difficult employees do, in fact, exist. No workplace is immune. The degree of difficulty, however, is determined by the self-confidence and professional skills of the other employees. This session will provide guidance on handling a myriad of difficult employees, such as the ones that:

  • personally attack
  • undermine the team’s professional contributions
  • talk constantly, but never listen
  • need to have the last work
  • don’t keep commitments
  • openly criticize other’s work
  • compete for power
  • crave attention

Whatever the motivation of the difficult employee, there is a common response: they must be addressed, and when possible, embraced. If left unaddressed, the situation only worsens and can often erupt into an extremely unpleasant and unnecessary workplace event. In this session, we’ll provide specific strategies for dealing with any type of difficult employees, including: maintaining objectivity, understanding what’s driving the attack, minimizing your own whining, knowing when to involve others, rehabilitating difficult employees and accepting when you can’t.

The attendees will be engaged throughout the training in finding solutions to workplace conflict and difficult employees through evolving case studies taken from real life situations.
